Damian and Beatriz (Betty) Morales are both in their 20s and live and work in the village of Arrizola where they were born, along with their daughter Jennifer, who was born in 1997.  Damian was trained as a shoe maker and left Arrizola to make his living.  However, he was already in love with Betty whom he missed very much.  So he returned to Arrizola to marry her.  In order to make a living he took up carving copal wooden figures -- this was a new cottage industry in Arrizola and some of his neighbors were doing well with this. Betty started to paint his figures.  They turned out to be a uniquely talented pair producing  antelopes, horses, dogs, birds and other animals from both life and fantasy.
