Rodolfo Morales is
the 'maestro' of our collection. He was born in 1925 in Ocotlan de Morelos,
Oaxaca. His resume is six pages long, from his studies that began in
1948 through his one man exhibtions and honors from all over the world.
He is featured in Pisando en el Cielo, Pintores de Oaxaca, a supurb
documentary film about Oaxacan art and artists we hope to show you with an
accompanying translation. Morales' work is known for exaggerated
hands and feet, little dogs, and the dreamy floating of his figures.
He is the founder of the Rodolfo Morales Cultural Foundation. He
makes a collage at the beginning each day to provide support for the work
of the Foundation, through which he guides the restoration of village
churches and convents and contributes to ecological and humanitarian
relief projects. We have several of these collages in our
collection.
